Kinects® Solutions Inc. has developed an innovative, cost-effective means of transmitting data through the distribution transformer using existing electrical power lines, without the need for installation of expensive equipment in distribution sub-stations.
The Kinects® Solution uses electrical infrastructure to send data bi-directionally - connecting the power distributor directly into homes and commercial establishments to individual power outlets, home appliances and electrical equipment.
Electrical utilities can use the Kinects® Solution for automated meter reading, smart metering, advanced meter infrastructure, load control, remote disconnect/reconnect, and power quality monitoring.
By using the existing infrastructure with no added substation hardware, equipment costs are kept to a minimum. The Kinects® Solution can be initially deployed with smaller endpoints and scaled up as required with minimal additional capital investment.
Other potential non-utility applications include street and municipal lighting, security systems, and the remote monitoring and control of a wide variety of equipment and devices.
