AMI Embedded Engineer - Career
Kinects Solutions Inc. (KSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kinectrics Inc., has developed an innovative and cost effective power line communication technology and related portfolio of products and applications for electrical utilities.
The company is seeking an experienced Embedded Engineer to develop firmware for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems and applications.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, integrated team developing data acquisition and communications solutions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Architecting and developing new embedded firmware
- Developing test firmware for hardware verification
- Designing new communications protocols
- Developing and implementing DSP algorithms
- Designing, prototyping and implementing digital filters for Power line Carrier modulated data
- Developing, maintaining and troubleshooting existing systems
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of embedded programming experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering field or equivalent
- Strong theoretical foundation and practical experience in digital signal processing (filtering, FFT, etc.), and software modeling algorithm development and analysis tools (Labview, Matlab)
- Experience with Microchip microprocessors and TI DSP and their development tools
- Expertise in Assembler, C, C++, Java, and embedded real time operating systems
- Experience implementing wired and wireless communications protocols (SPI, I2C, ANSI 12.22, GSM/CDMA, and Zigbee)
- Experience in embedded hardware design
- Staunch advocate of structured coding methodologies, and version control best practices
- Strong analytic, problem solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communications skills both oral and written
- Experience with electronic and safety certification on embedded software and system is an asset
